Planting technology - Cup planter | PRIOS 440

4-row, 3.5 t hopper, 3 m road transport width, smart and powerful

Thanks to its modular design, the GRIMME PRIOS 440 offers various equipment options and a high level of operating convenience. With the help of a goose neck drawbar which is coupled to an intermediate frame and a separate lifting mechanism, soil cultivation can be done with any common soil tillage implement. At the same time, fertiliser, granulates, furrow treatment agents and liquid seed dressing can be applied when the potatoes are planted. The newly engineered "hybrid" ridge shaping unit device ensures ridge shaping under all soil conditions and high flexibility in case of changing ridge forming requirements. For effective protection against soil erosion, the GRIMME TerraProtect system can be integrated. Due to the road transport width of less than 3.00 m, it is the first 4-row potato planter with a complete EU type-approval. The potato planter PRIOS can be optionally equipped with solutions for the implementation of Clever Planting, Section Control and site-specific farming using application maps. The connection to myGRIMME facilitates the storage and retrieval of machine data and task data. Thanks to the intuitive operating concept in conjunction with the SmartView video system, the operator always has a perfect overview of the most important machine functions.

Wide range of combinations

The EU type-approved goose neck drawbar with intermediate frame and separate lifting mechanism allows a quick change between different soil cultivation implements. The depth guidance of the soil cultivation is independent of the potato planter. This means, that the required depth of cultivation and the planting depth of the tubers can always be accurately maintained.

Completely Section Control Capable

In order to save money and resources, the fertiliser box, the barrel system and the planting elements can be switched on/off separately from each other and for each row individually via Section Control (single-row switch on/off with so-called "Multiboom function"). This can significantly reduce nutrient inputs into the environment, especially when creating spraying tracks or planting on wedge-shaped fields.

Work site-specificly

Using application cards, up to two applications can be controlled simultaneously on a site-specific basis. For example, the tuber spacing and the fertiliser quantity can be regulated on the basis of a corresponding application card.

Road transport width less than 3.00 m

Due to the road transport width of less than 3.00 m, GRIMME´s PRIOS 440 is the first 4-row potato planter with a complete EU type-approval. A special approval for road transport is no longer required. The complete EU type-approval simplifies interplant or even cross-border use.

Unique "hybrid" ridge shaping unit.

The "hybrid" ridge shaping device combines the advantages of a shaping board with those of a cage roller. This allows to create a ridge with stable and smooth flanks and an open-pored ridge crown. In addition, the ridge structure can be optimally adapted to the existing soil conditions.

Potato cultivation with improved protection against erosion

TerraProtect creates small transverse ridges, so-called dykes, between the potato ridges. The dykes reduce the risk of erosion and at the same time promote water absorption.

Benefits

  • Soil cultivation and planting
  • With the help of a goose neck drawbar which is coupled to an intermediate frame and a separate lifting mechanism, the planter can be combined with any common implement for active and passive soil tillage (deep-loosening, rotary harrow, rotary tiller).
    • The depth guidance of the soil cultivation is independent of the potato planter. This means that the depth of tillage and of planting can be precisely maintained.
    • The powerful planting element enables a simple adaption to the tuber size and ensures therefore an exact planting distance.
    • The combination of specially developed furrow opener, planting cups, the longest singling way, an adjustable drop rod and a low drop height enable an even planting distance in the required planting depth.

    • The GRIMME nozzle system ensures complete dressing of the tuber, and the GRIMME tank system enables a safe handling as well as a proper crop protection.
    • The fertiliser hopper with a capacity of 1700 l enables a high area output. The large dimensioned fertiliser discs ensure a reliable application.
    • Option to applicate micro granules directly into the furrow, for an optimal growth start or for protection of the seed tubers.
  • Comfort and operation
    • SmartView: The video system includes a 12 inch touch screen with the feature to zoom-in, live slow motion, live image transmission via WiFi, Visual Protect PRO and the possibility to record the displayed image.
    • Section Control (SC): Saving of agricultural inputs such as fertiliser, pesticides and seed tubers thanks to automatic single row switch-on / switch-off.
    • Variable Rate Control (VRC): By use of electronic application maps the machine is able to realise precise, variable tuber spacing for each single row.
    • Clever Planting: Increased share of marketable crop due to an improved, even growth and tuber size in the rows next to the spray tracks. This is achieved by an infinitely adjustable, reduced tuber spacing and reduces the competition for light and nutrients along the spray tracks.
    • The ISOBUS operator terminals CCI 800 and CCI 1200, with intuitive operating interface GDI and various diagnostic options, offer a high operator comfort.
    • Quick and easy adjustment of the planting distances and fertiliser quantity. This can be done mechanically on the side of the machine or optionally from the drivers cab.
    • Uniform growing through constant soil covering of the tubers via hydraulic depth control of the furrow opener and automatic shaping board steering. The planting depth can easily be controlled and adjusted from the cab.
  • Ridge shaping and protection against soil erosion
    • The ridging body unit, made of plastic (PE), ensures stable ridge flanks. Thanks to the low traction requirement, fuel can be saved.
    • For ridge shaping, a choice can be made between ridge crown plates, cage rollers or a "hybrid" ridge shaping unit (combination of ridge crown plates and cage rollers).
    • To create ridges with loose to slightly recompacted soil and a smooth surface a shaping unit with ridge crown plates solid can be used.
    • Cage rollers can be used for a crumbly surface of the ridges. The cage rollers provide a light, airy ridge with an open-pored surface.
    • The unique "hybrid-ridge shaping unit" creates a ridge with stable, smooth flanks and an open-pored crown. This combines the advantages of a shaping board with those of a cage roller. The hybrid-ridge shaping unit can be converted and adjusted in the field without any tools, allowing flexible adaptation of the ridge shaping process to soil conditions as well as customer requirements.
    • Protection against erosion: The "partnership" of a loosening tine and the dyker, both working between the ridges, TerraProtect ensures a more efficient water absorption in the ridges and also provides maximum protection against soil erosion.
    • For an effective protection against soil erosion, the TerraProtect can be combined with all ridge shaping units for the first time.
  • Chassis
    • The PRIOS 440 planter with 75 cm row width comes with complete EU type-approval. Thanks to two telescopic axles, the working width can be reduced from 3.30 m to a road transport width of less than 3.00 m. Protruding machine parts, such as the soil guiding plates, the outermost ridging bodies and loosening tines are retracted into the machine contour. A special approval for road transport is no longer required. The complete EU type-approval simplifies interplant or even cross-border use.
    • Well positioned wheels and the optionally steering axle (+/- 20° steering angle) ensure good guiding on slopes and manoeuvrability of the machine.
    • Large wheels ensure best driving features and reduce the risk of soil compaction. Different tyres are available.
