ASA-LIFT

AUTOMATIC SIDE-SHIFT SYSTEM FOR THE INTAKE OF TOP LIFTERS

The rows are detected via sensors and the intake is then automatically steered along the rows.

The sowing of vegetables such as carrots or leeks are usually carried out by pneumatic precision seeder drills. But despite GPS steering and other technology they do not always guarantee perfectly straight seed rows. This means that in theory the operator of the top lifter harvesting the crop must always actively steer the machine in order to harvest all of the produce. This is especially problematic with self propelled harvesters, where the wheels are often considerably further forward than the intake, so even the smallest of steering adjustments have a large effect on the direction of the machine. In addition, if it is wet underfoot there is the danger of the front wheels slipping. This leads to crop losses.

The Grimme subsidiary ASA-LIFT is the first manufacturer to produce a self propelled harvester with a side shift on the intake. The rows are detected via sensors and the intake is then automatically steered along the rows. This allows the driver to concentrate on other tasks as well as allowing for a greater harvesting speed. As a result crop losses are reduced considerably.

All self propelled ASA-LIFT top lifters can be fitted with this technology as an optional extra.
