Social media privacy

We (hereinafter also “RICON GmbH & Co. KG” or “we”) would like to inform you below about the processing of your personal data in connection with the use of our social media channels in accordance with Articles 13, 14, 21 of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

Privacy policy for our LinkedIn page

We would like to inform you below about the processing of personal data in connection with the use of our “LinkedIn page”.

Who is responsible?

Our LinkedIn page is accessible via the LinkedIn platform (www.linkedin.com), which is operated in the European Union by: LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company (“LinkedIn”), Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland.

We ourselves are responsible for data protection law for some of the data processing on our LinkedIn page:

What is it about?

We operate a “LinkedIn page” to draw attention to our services and service offerings and to interact with our customers and visitors to the LinkedIn page (hereinafter referred to as “users”).

When using our LinkedIn page, personal data is processed. In the following, you will be informed about the type and scope of data processing for which we are responsible under data protection law.

What is your data processed for when you visit our LinkedIn page and on which legal basis?

Independent processing of usage data by LinkedIn

When you visit our LinkedIn page or other sub-pages within www.linkedin.com, LinkedIn collects usage data. In principle, LinkedIn alone is responsible for this data processing under data protection law. LinkedIn provides information on this in its privacy policy and cookie policy.

Processing of usage data under joint responsibility of LinkedIn and RICON GmbH & Co. KG

When you visit our LinkedIn page, LinkedIn also uses certain usage data (e.g. whether you have “liked” or commented on certain amounts from us) to provide us with summarized usage statistics (so-called “Page Insights”). Usage statistics do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the behavior of individual users, but simply give us an overview of the use of our LinkedIn page (e.g. which posts were clicked on particularly frequently). We ourselves have no access to the personal data processed to compile the statistics. LinkedIn alone determines which usage actions are logged by LinkedIn and cannot be set up, changed or otherwise influenced by us.

We have the usage statistics generated by LinkedIn available to us for our LinkedIn page in order to improve the contributions published there and to make them as interesting as possible for users. Processing is carried out on the basis of a balance of interests in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR, which always takes your interests into account. If you are logged in to LinkedIn yourself, processing is also carried out in accordance with Article 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b GDPR in accordance with the terms of use that apply between you and LinkedIn.

LinkedIn and we are jointly responsible for the processing of personal data for the preparation of these usage statistics in accordance with Article 26 GDPR.

In the Page Insights Joint Controller Addendum, LinkedIn and we have contractually defined which of us fulfills which obligations under the GDPR. It also describes which data is processed as part of joint responsibility.

Processing of your data when you communicate with us via the LinkedIn page

If you contact us via the LinkedIn page, for example by commenting on a post or writing us a message about LinkedIn messages, we process your data (such as your name and communication content) to process your request.

Please note that we can see the names of the logged-in LinkedIn users who have visited our LinkedIn page. If you do not want to share this information, you can activate the so-called “private mode” in your profile settings on LinkedIn.

Where necessary, we also process your data to assert legal claims and defend legal disputes as well as to prevent and investigate criminal offences.

Processing is carried out on the basis of a balance of interests in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f DSGVO, which always takes your interests into account.

How long will my data be stored?

We do not store any personal data about your use of the LinkedIn page ourselves.

Information that you publish on our LinkedIn page (e.g. comments) or send via LinkedIn message is stored by LinkedIn based on your usage relationship and can be deleted by you there.

Who receives your data?

When we communicate with you via our LinkedIn page, it transmits the necessary personal data to LinkedIn.

Otherwise, we will only pass on your personal data to third parties if you have consented to this, if there is a legal basis for doing so or if this is necessary to enforce or defend claims.

Is your data transferred to a third country or to an international organization?

We do not transfer personal data collected via our LinkedIn page to third countries (i.e. countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area).

However, we have no influence on whether LinkedIn processes personal data in third countries in its area of responsibility and transmits it to LinkedIn Inc. in the USA, for example.

What rights do you have when it comes to processing your data?

In accordance with legal requirements, you have various rights when it comes to processing your personal data. You have the right to information, the right to correction, the right to delete, the right to restrict processing and the right to data portability. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Information about your right to object in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR

1. Individual right of objection
For reasons arising from your particular situation, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you based on Article 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. e or lit. f GDPR; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions.

If you file an objection, we will no longer process your personal data unless you can prove compelling legitimate grounds for processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

2. Objection to the processing of your data for direct marketing
If we process your personal data for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purpose of such marketing; this also applies to profiling, insofar as it is associated with such direct marketing.

If you object to processing for direct marketing purposes, your personal data will no longer be processed for these purposes.

The objection can be made informally and should, if possible, be addressed to:

Only LinkedIn has access to user data and can therefore take immediate action and provide information. If you are logged in to LinkedIn, you can also make your own decisions about data processing by LinkedIn in the LinkedIn settings.

However, if you still need help, you can always contact us.

Is there an obligation for you to provide data?

When using our LinkedIn page, there is no legal or contractual obligation to provide us with personal data.

When you visit our YouTube channel or other channels within the YouTube platform, Google collects usage data. Google alone is responsible for this data processing under data protection law. By using Google, your personal data is collected, transferred, stored, disclosed and used by Google and transferred to, stored and used in the United States, Ireland and any other country in which Google does business, regardless of your place of residence. Google also processes the content that you create, upload or receive from others when using the services. This includes, for example, photos and videos that you save, documents and spreadsheets that you create, and comments that you write on YouTube videos.

On the other hand, Google also evaluates the content you share according to which topics you are interested in, stores and processes confidential messages that you send directly to other users and can determine your location based on GPS data, information about wireless networks or your IP address in order to send you advertising or other content.

Google may use analysis tools such as Google Analytics for evaluation. We have no influence on the use of such tools by Google and were also not informed of such potential use. The data obtained during the analysis is also not made available to her. Only certain subscribers' profiles can be viewed by RICON GmbH & Co. KG via their account. In addition, RICON GmbH & Co. KG has no way of preventing or stopping the use of such tools on its YouTube channel.

Finally, Google also receives information when you view content, for example, even if you have not created an account. This so-called “log data” may include the IP address, browser type, operating system, information about the previously accessed website and the pages you have viewed, your location, your mobile service provider, the device you use (including device ID and application ID), the search terms you use and cookie information.

You can restrict the processing of your data in the general settings of your Google account. In addition to these tools, Google also offers specific privacy settings for YouTube. You can find out more about this in the Google Product Privacy Guide from Google.
